A count tells you what was reported — not how someone got in.
A monthly count tells you what was reported — not how an intruder actually got in. Most forced entries still rely on two physical weak points: glass that breaks cleanly and a door frame that gives under force. Neither shows up in a statistics table, and neither is addressed by an alarm that sounds after the glass is already broken. What changes the picture is delay — making the glass and the strike zone take more time, more noise, and more effort to defeat. No film and no door hardware can stop or guarantee anything; what they do is buy time.

About this data.
Where do these break-in numbers come from?
They are aggregated directly from public police open data published by the five regional services that cover the GTA — Toronto, York, Peel, Halton, and Durham. Clear Guard does not estimate or adjust the figures. The "last updated" date on each section shows exactly when the data was last refreshed.
How current is this data?
The page recomputes every month as each police service publishes. Police feeds run on a multi-week lag, so the most recent calendar month is often still filling in — that is why the page shows the latest month that actually has reported data, with its date stamped on every figure.
Why do the regions show different "latest" months?
Each regional service publishes on its own schedule, so one region's freshest month can be a little ahead of or behind another's. The page always shows each region's own most recent month with data rather than forcing them all to the same date.
Do these counts mean that many homes were broken into?
Not exactly. The counts are reported break-and-enter occurrences, which include commercial premises and can carry more than one charge per file. They are a useful trend signal, not a precise count of burgled houses.
What actually reduces the risk of forced entry?
A statistics table can't tell you how an intruder got in — but most forced entries still rely on glass that breaks cleanly and a door frame that gives under force. Adding delay at those two points, with security window film and door fortification, buys time. No product can stop or guarantee anything; what it does is make entry slower, louder, and harder.
