Clear Guard (“Clear Guard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit https://clearguard.ca or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and deliver our services:
- Contact & booking details you submit through forms — name, address, phone number, email, and notes about your property or security concerns.
- Communications — calls, voicemails, emails, and text messages exchanged with our team.
- Site analytics — pages viewed, device type, approximate location (city-level), and referring source, collected through standard web analytics.
- Anti-abuse signals — Cloudflare Turnstile generates a token to confirm form submissions are not automated. We do not receive your raw biometric or device data.
- Advertising measurement — cookies set by the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising pixel, which record the pages you view and the actions you complete on the site, such as tapping a phone link or submitting a booking form. Section 4 explains this in full.
2. How we use it
- Schedule and deliver free on-site security assessments.
- Prepare quotes, contracts, and warranty records.
- Reply to questions and follow up on open inquiries.
- Improve the website, our service mix, and the areas we cover.
- Measure how our advertising performs, and show our ads to people who have visited the site.
- Meet legal, tax, and warranty record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not receive payment from anyone for access to it. We do use some of it for advertising measurement and audience targeting, which section 4 sets out in detail along with your options.
3. Service providers
We share information only with vendors that help us run the business, under contract and only for the purpose we engaged them. These currently include hosting (Vercel), email delivery (Resend), analytics (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity, and Vercel Analytics), advertising measurement (Meta Platforms), anti-abuse (Cloudflare Turnstile), and our internal scheduling and intake systems. Some of these providers may store data in the United States; in those cases, the information may be subject to the laws of that country.
4. Cookies, analytics & advertising
The site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality, analytics, and advertising measurement.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to measure aggregate traffic, Microsoft Clarity for anonymized session recordings of how visitors use the site, and Vercel Analytics for cookieless first-party performance metrics. We do not use these three tools for advertising or to identify individual visitors.
Advertising. We run ads on Meta's platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and use the Meta advertising pixel to measure them. The pixel sets its own cookies and records which pages you view, when you tap a phone or email link, and when you complete a booking or callback form. Meta uses this to report how our ads perform and to show our ads to people who have visited the site, including audiences built from site visitors. This is advertising profiling, and it does involve recognizing returning visitors.
Booking information sent to Meta. When you successfully submit a booking or callback form, we also send Meta a one-way hashed (SHA-256) copy of your email address and phone number, together with your IP address, browser type, and the page you were on when you submitted, so it can match that booking to an ad you saw. We do not send Meta the raw email or phone number, and we do not send your name, your address, or the notes you write about your property. Hashing is not the same as anonymizing: Meta can still compare the hash against its own records to work out which account it belongs to. We send this from our server, so it happens whether or not the pixel loaded in your browser.
Your options. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and you can change what Meta shows you through your Meta ad preferences. Blocking cookies stops the browser-side pixel, but it does not stop the server-side match described above. To opt out of that as well, contact us using the details in section 10 and we will stop using your information for advertising measurement. Some parts of the booking flow may not work without cookies.
5. Retention
We keep customer records (assessments, contracts, install notes, warranty registrations) for as long as the warranty period plus any retention period required by law or insurance. Inquiry-only records that do not lead to a project are deleted when they are no longer useful.
6. Security
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit who can access customer data and use encrypted connections for site traffic and intake.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Confirm what information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete information we are no longer required to keep.
- Stop sending you follow-up messages.
- Stop using your information for advertising measurement, as described in section 4.
Send requests to fortify@clearguard.ca. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
8. Children
The site is intended for adults arranging security work for their property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective” date above shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be posted on this page.
